Founding Design Engineer
Runtime Labs builds Óra, a personal timeline for memory and planning.
As a Founding Design Engineer, you will help define the product language of Óra: how users create plans, commit events, revisit context, interact with model suggestions, and move through time. This role sits between product design, frontend engineering, and interaction systems.
About the Role
- Design and build core product surfaces across web and mobile
- Shape the timeline, event creation, onboarding, notes, images, and prompt interfaces
- Prototype new interaction patterns for natural language scheduling and model-grounded planning
- Translate ambiguous product ideas into clear, usable, high-quality interfaces
- Work closely with engineering on performance, polish, and implementation details
- Develop a visual and interaction system that makes Óra feel calm, fast, and trustworthy

- Strong product taste and deep care for interface quality
- Comfortable moving between design, prototyping, and frontend implementation
- Notices small interaction details that make software feel polished
- Excited by calendars, timelines, memory, tools for thought, and AI-native interfaces
- Wants to help define the user experience of a new category from the beginning
Location & Compensation
- Location: San Francisco. We are building the founding team in person and expect to work closely together during the company's early formation.
- Salary: $150k–$200k depending on experience and role.
- Equity: meaningful early-stage ownership for long-term partners.
- Exceptional candidates may be considered outside this range.
